Who are the Roma? far as I know, the Roma are an ethnic-cultural group that is shared by many over the world. It is, as it were, a nation without a country.
Where do they live? In Spain there are genuinely Roma neighborhoods, ie, in which Roma live alone. In general, tend to live in the poorest areas of cities. They are called ghettos.
What makes them different? Gypsies are often not fully integrated into the majority community in the country in which they live. In Spain, at least, not usually mix too much with what they call 'payo' (ie non-Roma). They have a unique culture that includes social norms of behavior peculiar linguistic features specific to their community and a whole scale of moral values \u200b\u200bitself.
Why are not integrated into the rest of society? This is a very complicated issue that I do not know how to respond, but I guess the key is education. Many Roma do not allow their children go to school Gadje and have to work very young, so have no access to power structures higher and therefore more prestigious. On the other hand, have not accepted payos Roma community mostly due to historical prejudices, for example, associating the word 'gypsy' and 'crime'. This is undoubtedly a xenophobic attitude.
